terms & conditions

Following an initial free consultation whereby your requirements are confirmed, I will set out a proposal of what the expectations will be regarding the research and also a timeframe for the completion of research. It is upon agreement of the undertaking of research that acceptance is made of the terms and conditions.

Research undertaken is limited by the initial information provided by the client and I cannot be held responsible for the accuracy of this information. Details of any previously conducted research should be made available; however, this may be verified and reviewed.

Reports and subject to my own copyright and are intended for use by the client. It is accepted that these reports and documents may be circulated or reproduced by the client. It is accepted that reports written by myself remain credited to me and not altered in any way. Although there is a limit on copyright restrictions on third party documents and what is available at archives, this is adhered to and copyright obtained where required. Many documents are not subjected to copyright, however shouldn’t be reproduced other than for personal use.

Communication will be maintained with regular updates to the client, and if the client finds they have discovered new information which may impact on the research being undertaken, it is expected that any additional information is provided.

I am registered with the Information Commissioner No. ZA328320. All personal data provided will only be used for the purpose of genealogical research required to complete the project as requested. Data provided by the client is used solely for genealogical research relating to the project and not used for any other purpose. I may request if a report relating to the client’s project may be submitted to a professional qualifying body to show examples of work produced. Permission from the client will always be sought in the first instance, and the client should feel under no obligation to agree to this request.

By accessing and using this service, you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provision of this agreement. In addition, when using these particular services, you shall be subject to any posted guidelines or rules applicable to such services. Any participation in this service will constitute acceptance of this agreement. If you do not agree to abide by the above, please do not use this service.

Information contained in reports may be restricted by accuracy of information and availability of records. Often a line of enquiry may not be possible to pursue due to inaccuracy of information provided at the time by the ancestor, records being no longer available due to a variety of reasons, or often an ancestor is so elusive that the time involved in trying to locate corroborating evidence for them in outside the constraints of research. I do take the greatest of care in consulting original records to avoid errors and to provide supporting documents and references for each stage of verifying the client’s ancestry.

Once a client has decided to pursue possible research, either complete the contact form, or email, providing as much information as possible and what your outcomes and constraints of the research is. If there is a time requirement, such as birthday or Christmas present, please let this be known in the initial contact for so all available information can assist in establishing if I can complete the project as required. After the contact form has been completed, I will provide a free of charge and obligation free quote detailing if I can complete the project, and if so, what will be required, a completion date, and a cost for the project. If the client is looking for a package rather than bespoke research, the same information with confirmation of cost will be provided. It is then up to the client whether the research is carried out.

Following receipt of the initial quote, if the client wishes to continue with their research request, 50% payment is required prior to the commencement of research. The client will be provided with regular email updates outlining what stage their project is at, in addition to these email updates, the client can contact at any time with any queries. Once the completed project is received, should the client find any errors or any queries, please contact as soon as possible. Should this require reprint of the final project, this shall be only one copy (if additional copies were requested initially).

Upon receipt of the final payment, the completed projected will be posted to the client via Royal Mail Special Delivery for UK clients, and Royal Mail International Tracked and Signed for international clients. This shipping method is my preference, unless specified otherwise by the client.
